Todays session with Catherine was making still life images.\u00a0 Talking about themes before we picked up equipment we discussed some general categories [which are usually used in advertising]<\/p>\n

1) graphic overhead<\/p>\n

2) big, medium, small. and<\/p>\n

3) repetition<\/p>\n

1)Graphic overhead often takes the form of a tight, cropped overhead shot.<\/p>\n

2)Three different sizes [of whatever is being captured] 3 dishes, 3 plates, 3 crates, 3 bottles, etc.<\/p>\n

3) repetition – plate of cakes, three dishes of the same food etc.,<\/p>\n

Colour themes are often bold, room settings are used, word prompts such as ‘modern’, ‘lifestyle’, ‘fresh’, ‘cosy’, ‘homemade’ and ‘seasonal’ all help the photographer to create the illusion.\u00a0 The ‘Hero’ of the shoot is the main prop.<\/p>\n

We also discussed a risk assessment for the workshop and any shoot we may undertake.<\/p>\n

With lots of props and minimal lighting, working as a group the results I think\u00a0 are quite pleasing.<\/p>\n
