Todays lecture was about seeing images that are not a \u2018snapshot\u2019 or \u2018captured\u2019 image but rather a constructed or choreographed image sometimes giving the viewer a different interpretation of fine art and culture.<\/p>\n
We looked at quite a few artists. Gregory Crewdson is one of my personal favourites and a fabulous creator of epic choreographed images. Made to look like a still from a film, they are reported to cost almost as much as a small budget film to create!<\/p>\n
There are other photographers who have produced some very interesting works, to bring attention to a cause close to their heart like Tom Hunter and Jeff Wall. Representing political issues and community issues some with a positive message and others not so positive but making the viewer think about what they are seeing. \u00a0\u00a0Laurie Long\u2019s series of Becoming Nancy Drew were quite fascinating.. turning herself into the literary super sleuth!<\/p>\n
For this weeks task we were asked to make a photographic montage or collage.\u00a0 Now from my love of all thing Blue Peter in my youth I felt this was right up my street.\u00a0 Yet I found it quite difficult to do.\u00a0 I could have made it political with all the current turmoil in the Government but felt it would be too complex for me to illustrate as this is after all intended to be a short task for this blog.<\/p>\n
I opted instead to create an image that represents my own daily turmoils, loves, worries and joys.\u00a0 Struggles of trying to allocate time for myself and doing things I love,\u00a0 learning to play the Ukulele in the middle of the chaos of time, (represented by two clocks) and how to include those who need my help, to the tangle of cottons that represent my wayward hair, the constant dread of dementia and feeling that words and knowledge are slipping from my mind like water swirling down the plughole!<\/p>\n
I created two images and decided to combine them.<\/p>\n
…It all boils down to Love and Money<\/p>\n
